Memorial Day

Pierce Yamaoka answered a call to action on the afternoon of 5/24/2020. Despite not having connected recently, old friendships kindled in music are quick to reignite. With Pierce living and working in New York and me in California, we had a short window to put together a tribute to our servicemembers past. In the span of 8 hours, the idea was hatchced, music found, and all recordings finished. In the interest of time and the spirit of fun, we chose to transpose the music as we went, with Pierce reading the trumpet and horn parts as written, and myself reading the trombone and tuba parts in their original bass clef C. Music is a unifying force that can help us to keep moving forward. It is my hope that you would feel something positive when you hear this music, and that it remind you of those you love and the freedoms you enjoy.
